About Photovoltaics

Image of photovoltaic solar panels The Photovoltaic Rebate Program provides rebates for photovoltaic (PV or solar) power systems serving residential homes, schools and community buildings. Rebates are available both for systems connected to the electricity grid and for stand-alone systems.

The objectives of the Photovoltaic Rebate Program are to encourage the long-term use of PV technology, reduce greenhouse emissions, assist in the development of the Australian PV industry and increase awareness of renewable energy.

The Australian Government provides funding for the Photovoltaic Rebate Program. Applicants will need to apply directly to the Department of the Environment and Water Resources for a rebate. For further information and application forms, refer to the Department of the Environment and Water Resources website or call the Photovoltaic Rebate Program Hotline on 1300 138 122.
