By purchasing GreenPower you will increase the amount of electricity generated from renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, hydro and bioenergy.

When you purchase electricity accredited under the National GreenPower Accreditation Program, you are guaranteed your electricity needs are being met from an increase in renewable, environmentally sustainable, electricity generation in Australia.

Further, GreenPower purchases are additional to any mandatory requirements for electricity retailers to purchase electricity from renewable energy sources.

You can choose to have all or part of your electricity supplied from accredited renewable energy sources. Commercial customers can apply to use the GreenPower logo on promotional material, to help demonstrate commitment to the environment.

Synergy and Alinta offer accredited GreenPower electricity products in Western Australia. For a list of all participating retailers and purchasing options, visit the GreenPower website at www.greenpower.gov.au. The website also provides comprehensive information on the program for electricity generators, retailers and consumers.

The National GreenPower Accreditation Program is an initiative of the Governments of the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia.

The Sustainable Energy Development Office represents Western Australia on the National GreenPower Accreditation Program Steering Group. The Sustainable Energy Development Office undertakes activities to encourage greater uptake of GreenPower in Western Australia. Suppliers of GreenPower can charge a premium on top of standard electricity tariffs that recognises the higher cost of generating electricity from renewable energy.
