Participation Requirements

Compliance with the Energy Smart Government Policy is mandatory for all general government sector agencies with 25 or more staff (FTE).

Other agencies and Government Trading Enterprises (i.e. public non-financial corporations, public financial corporations and agencies outside the State's public sector) are encouraged to adopt the principles of the policy as an integral part of their business and may participate formally in the Energy Smart Government Program on a voluntary basis.

New agencies that are created during the life of the policy or existing agencies whose FTE number increases to 25 or more FTEs will be required to participate and have a baseline established for the purpose of the program.

The Sustainable Energy Development Office will review staff numbers on a regular basis from the information provided by the Department of the Premier and Cabinet in its quarterly "Employment in WA State Government Bodies" publication.

You can download a list of agencies (PDF 25KB) participating in the program.
