The Sustainable Energy Development Office is required to produce a whole of government report on the outcomes of the Energy Smart Government program each year. The reports outline individual agency results and the overall program achievements.

Key Outcomes

•	Since the program's inception, the Government has saved over $13 million in agency operating costs and avoided the emission of almost 37,500 tonnes of greenhouse gas through energy savings of almost 500,000 GJ
•	Energy use per Government employee has reduced by 16.2%
•	Although Western Australia is in a period of significant economic growth, with consequent requirements for increased Government services, total energy use by Government has been capped below 2001/02 levels for the past five years
•	Agencies have achieved a 24% saving in energy consumption over the last five years compared with a business as usual scenario based on State economic growth
•	In 2006/07, participating agencies collectively reported: - Energy consumption of 2,779,642 GJ (2.5% below the baseline) - Energy cost of $77.2 million - Greenhouse gas emissions of 572,950 tonnes
•	82% of agencies demonstrated more efficient use of energy
•	The 12% energy reduction target for 2006/07 was achieved by 20 agencies
•	Eleven agencies reduced energy use by more than 20%
